The many facets of beauty.

A picture never captures true beauty. I was thinking about this  and I think it has to do with the seen and unseen .

This image is lacking the following key elements:  the smell of the fall coming, the sparkle of the water, the sounds of the friends chatting softly, the hand holding mine. It is also lacking the things we can’t see that made it perfect. The things you do not notice.

When you are working on making your home beautiful, remember it’s not just pieces of furniture in a square room with the best wall color. It is the sum of those things, plus smells, lighting, the people, and the various visual and tactile textures.

A good interior, as in nature,  has a few focal points and everything else is a perfect blend of quiet color, light and texture.

Meet Malina: Home, Food and Prop Stylist.

I can’t say enough good things about this woman’s skills. Malina can create beauty wherever she goes.  If you need a chef, are doing a photo shoot, or throwing a party or want to sell a product and display it well, Malina is your gal. She has impeccable taste and you can simply hire her, close your eyes , open them and voila! perfection. Her eye for color and design comes from an inner, magical place~ no one can learn this shit in school.

Rosita’s Mexican Restauraunt, Greenlake.

This place has been in Greenlake for a long while and needed and upgrade. When I went in for the first time, there was a lot of peach colored walls and turquoise trim. The carpet, seating upholstery, paint & art could change but we had to work with the table colors and the lighting. There were budget and time restraints ( can’t say i had my bestest nice girl attitude throughout this project) but in the end the result was fabulous. Here are the pictures.

I completed this job in Nov 2010 and things are still looking good, recently they upgraded the exterior as well according to my interior palette and also added outdoor seating! What a great addition to this great family eatery. You must bring your kids for fresh tortilla’s from the tortilla lady..
