thursday palette challenge question!

Sometimes you look down after working with someone  on a palette for their home and you just think “wow this pile of colors in itself is so pretty!”

Two of these these colors are for the exterior and some are interior, one is a ceiling color.

Can you guess which is which?

Exterior Color Inspiration

I saw this little home today, Lila said we should walk home from the mechanic’s shop even though it was pretty far. She can always convince me that we need a good walk. Children are sent to us for our own good..
We walked past this little secret sweet home in a part of town not known for it’s aesthetic beauty, I love to see good design when I’m not expecting it. This little home is a good reminder that a couple of gallons of paint cost the same regardless of whether it’s a good color or not!  If you are at a loss, send me a picture of your exterior and I will send you some colors to try.

C2 Blue Grotto & C2 Daffodil  from C2 Paint could work to recreate the above palette.

Mt. Baker Modern Exterior

Another beautiful home designed by Whitney Architecture, built by Dyna Contracting.

The exterior colors were partially picked out when I arrived on this job, I just gave a quick ten minutes and re-picked the dark body color. Wish I knew they were going to paint them garage doors white, yikes. In my dream world those doors are made of wood. I think I will put wood garage doors on this house officially in my memory banks. There, I feel better.

Roosevelt Vision Source, Seattle

So fun to contribute to the look of a local favorite street. When Roosevelt Vision Source asked me for help on their building, I was psyched. The street has some beautifully painted buildings in that vicinity and theirs looked, well, like a beige blob. We took some risks and jumped in with Merlot & Bluebeard by C2 Paint. The ladies at RVS really were visionaries!

YS Development, Bellevue

There aren’t many modern green homes in Bellevue. My friend and collaborator Yuval Sofer is developing a fabulous little community of homes that are truly modern and warm. Whitney Architecture designed the structures and Yuval and I worked on the exterior finishes of the homes. Each residence in the community has distinctly different color palettes, yet similarities shape.  The usage of wood, metal and color are what set these homes apart.

The interiors are primarily Yuval’s vision in collaboration with the home owners, I just offered a few opinions here and there. There are custom furniture pieces, excellent feature walls, beautiful sitting areas, amazing lighting and luxurious baths. All of that is delivered in a stylish, modern warm northwest style. I am honored to be a part of it.

Give Yuval a call if you are looking to build  a distinctly stylish custom modern home in the Seattle Bellevue area.

West Seattle Sleeping Porch

There is nothing quite like a sleeping porch facing the water. This lovely couple wanted the perfect blue house and found the color in the Pratt & Lambert line of paint. Turns out that Pratt & Lambert is not the best product for use on an exterior home with a lot of exposure. It has had to be re-painted a few times since this was painted in 2006.

The wood on the porch floor is IPE and the porch ceiling wood is cedar.
